SAMUELI INSTITUTE

The mission of the Samueli Institute is to transform health care through
the scientific exploration of healing. As a non-profit service organization,
the Institute acts as a catalyst in creating discoveries, developing relationships,
instigating research, and building rigorous scientific exploration that
results in shared knowledge, improved patient care and healthful living.
Over the next five years, it is its goal to build scientific tools to
better understand and apply a healing model in medicine. It envisions
a model that brings together ancient healing traditions and modern medicine
through rigorous scientific research. The Institute seeks answers to the
most important questions facing health care today. The Samueli Institute
has funded more than 90 scientific projects, published 140 peer-reviewed
articles and nine books, and supported 14 conferences. The Institute has
also begun a collaboration with the Armed Forces to introduce alternative
healing practices for returning veterans of the Iraq war.
Feng Shui criteria was used to evaluate the site and to propose optimal
layout criteria for architectural and interior design. Individual spaces
were also evaluated for personal and institutional efficiency, productivity
and comfort. Because of the nature of this organization, its space was
also evaluated and prepared for its role in healing and wellness.
