| MONTREAL GARDEN
Westmount, Montreal
Landscape Design: Sandy Schlemm
This garden is a brilliant example of a residential garden perched atop
a slope overlooking the St. Lawrence River in Montreal. Part of an exquisite
site in the affluent neighborhood of Westmount, the garden includes a
belvedere, walking paths, a stream, and terraced lawns. A waterfall and
pool complete this remarkable design.
The garden was conceived along feng shui principles that not only complement
the site on which it is located, but which also help to enhance feng shui
qualities for the house that sits atop the site. On a south-facing slope,
water moves from a waterfall in the east and disappears under a bridge
on the western edge. An apple tree sits directly inside the stream, metaphor
for the vitality and dynamism of the distinguished family to which the
house belongs.
