This education facility at Beth Israel Hospital in New York
City is the brain child of Beatrice Renfield, a long time donor and supporter
of nursing at Beth Israel. This project is intended to provide much needed
relief for nursing personnel in the areas of education, counseling, and
personal renewal. It includes conference rooms, classrooms, counseling
and interview space, a library and reference area, and a specially conceived
meditation space.
This space was conceived as a reflection and renewal center focused on
a meditation and renewal space. The materials and colors used in this
center were selected for their soothing impact. Many touches were added
as a way to promote healing and renewal. Crystals from the collection
of Ms Renfield, for example, were also incorporated into the design.
