The Beth Abraham Hospital Group is a leading provider of care to the elderly and infirm in New York city. Once part of a large Jewish philanthropical conglomerate, Beth Abraham delivers long-term care to over 1000 residents, as well as outpatient care to a growing number of neighborhood patients. Beth Abraham is also involved in expanding its day-care services to a combination of older constituents as well as younger members of the rapidly changing communities of the Bronx, Westchester, and Queens.

As part of its revitalization plan, Beth Abraham has initiated a comprehensive Master Plan aimed at defining its growth into the future. Our contributions to the Master Plan included assessments of several of its properties and of their earth energy, building design, and energy flow patterns. More importantly, it also focused on ways of defining a new paradigm for care to the elderly, based primarily on the Eden Alternative, a holistic, integrative approach which encourages elderly participation and involvement in such community-based activities as child care and commercial gardening. The Eden Alternative also advocates a more natural and organic environment, and geomancy and feng shui were obvious points of departure.
