| BROOKLYN WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT
PLAN
This study was commissioned by the developer Robert A. Levine for his
landmark redevelopment project on Furman Street, on the Brooklyn waterfront.
This very extensive residential complex is part of the larger revitalization
of the Brooklyn waterfront. Development of this vital asset for the city
of New York has been in the works for a number of years, and construction
of a whole system of parks, paths, and civic amenities is scheduled to
begin shortly.
My assessment included studies of the land and water patterns in the
area, in order to determine the commercial and residential viability of
this location. Street and vehicular patterns were very carefully considered
because many of the residential and park facilities will be located in
very close proximity to major highways. Cures and other corrections were
proposed to alleviate potential incompatibilities.
