HIGHLAND LAKE TRADITIONAL NEIGHBORHOOD Flat Rock, NC Developer: Kerry Lindsey The developer of this complex community near Asheville, NC wanted to create a traditional setting that would provide ease of access to residential, commercial, cultural, and agricultural amenities. Focused around a lake with fully developed recreational facilities, this traditional community includes town houses, detached homes, mixed-use commercial development, a lodge and restaurants, an organic farm, a retreat center, and a conservation area with pristine wetlands, all within walking distance from each other. This combination of uses has created a synergy between its various components that respects both the agricultural history and traditions of the area while providing modern development possibilities for a rapidly expanding population. Our contributions included an assessment of the land and water patterns, criteria for land and building development, and determinations of earth energies and areas of geopathic stresses that should be avoided in future building campaigns. We also provided guidelines and specifications for residential units and commercial development areas. |
